Veteran Detective William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) is a detective who is set on retiring in the near future. Detective David Mills (Brad Pitt) is a young man who recently transferred to the homicide department. He’s married to a beautiful young woman named Tracy (Gwyneth Paltrow). Somerset partners with Mills to investigate a series of murders involving the seven deadly sins. Serial killer John Doe (Kevin Spacey) horrifically murders seven victims based on each of the deadly sins. Doe takes the detectives on a dark and subdued journey full of some of the most sadistic murders they’ve ever witnessed. Se7en is a pretty awesome movie. It is one of the most thrilling and terrifying crime thrillers you will ever see. David Fincher turns what could have been a formulaic cop film into a refreshingly masterful work with nail-biting suspense and jaw-dropping surprises. Be warned that you will not leave this movie a happy individual. This is not your typical thriller where the criminal is caught, and the world is a better place. With its grim outlook on the world, Se7en is a flick that will leave you reeling afterwards.
